This April, Brandt-Roberts Galleries will present a contemporary group exhibition titled Seasonal Awakening: Dormant No More. This exhibition will feature new works by Brian Port, Jason Morgan, Mark Gingerich, and Richard Lillash, as well as works from their collection of historic pieces. By exploring the concepts of rebirth, renewal, and reawakening, these artists put their own spin on the traditional floral still-life to create a complex, intriguing exhibit.

pm gallery will be featuring Hummers photographs by Richard Northrup from April 2 through May 29. Richard began photographing hummingbirds in his Clintonville backyard in 2011. Since then he has refined his technique and the results are stunning. The images are printed on handmade paper, photographic paper or, in a unique series, on re-claimed metal sheet.

 

 


Rivet

Rivet welcomes back the watercolor artwork of California artist Dan Goodsell. This show will feature affordable, original watercolor artwork of his character line Mr. Toast and Friends.

ROY G BIV Gallery presents work by Christie Blizard and Jonathon Engelien. Blizard’s unsolicited performances “hijack” morning show broadcasts. Engelien’s work imagine a post-apocalyptic Midwestern landscape. The work of both artists is on display from April 2–30. Opening reception will be on Saturday, April 2 from 7:00-10:00pm. Artists’ talk and closing will be on Saturday, April 30 at 2:30pm.

 

 

Sean Christopher Gallery Ohio
At Sean Christopher Gallery this month is AOI: The 19th Art Of Illustration Show, an annual juried exhibit of 40 plus works from nearly 200 submissions by current students from the Columbus College of Art and Design. An opening reception will be on April 2 from 6:00-10:00pm. The exhibition continues through April 30.

Poetically Inspired showcases Studios on High Gallery’s first show creatively pairing artist and poets in honor of National Poetry Month. This unique exhibition pairs an artist with a poet where the artist creates an original work, inspired by the poet’s words.

Live Graffiti on the walls, tons of art for sale inside, DJs and Performances. Food and refreshments will be available. Artists will also be collaborating on a canvas throughout Gallery Hop, which will be raffled away at the end of the night.

This month, Danceville, U.S.A. is hosting artist Carrie Hamilton. She will have pieces on display and available for purchase throughout the ballroom. Carrie works with mixed media, acrylics, oils and everything in between. Carrie was diagnosed with breast cancer and is still currently battling it. Many of her paintings are emotional responses to the treatment and feelings involved with this very difficult journey. Carrie always donates 10% of the proceeds from any of her artwork sales to The American Cancer society.

Denmark on High will be featuring Adam Hernandez, born and raised in the Bronx to a family of musicians and performers. As a child, the bravado and vibrancy of the graffiti that covered every surface of his city spoke to him. With the city’s inspiration and the encouragement of his oil-painting-grandfather, Hernandez set down an artistic path.

First Commonwealth Bank will be featuring watercolor artist Justin Frehs for the month of April. Justin describes his watercolors as modern, with hints of expressionism, impressionism, abstract and even fine art. Stop by Righno on Saturday, April 2 from 5:00-10:00pm to see live painting with Dogear Design Co. Righno will be featuring the new oil painting series inspired by dogs, streetwear, and vintage tattoo flash art. Paintings on display include Seek, Mantra Series and It’s Monday Doe, Neon Series. Visitors can sign up to purchase a commissioned piece and schedule time with the artist for future events. Dogs are welcome, refreshments will be provided.

 

 

 

Short North Stage
See The Full Monty, The Musical at 8:00pm on Gallery Hop Saturday. The winner of six Tony awards, Short North Stage brings this hit Broadway musical based on the cult movie about laid-off factory workers who find surprising dignity by staging a male strip act to the Garden Theater. Called “one of the most touching musicals in Broadway history,” it will make you laugh, cry and rejoice in its lively rock score. The Full Monty will be playing at The Short North Stage through April 17.

Stonewall Columbus will be featuring OUT OF TIME by artists Jan Solari & Tamera Bryant. Stop by for the art show and opening reception on Friday, April 1 at 6:00pm or on Gallery Hop Saturday from 2:00-4:00pm. Music provided by Elliot Twelvetrees.

What The Rock?! is hosting a newcomer to the local art scene, Morgan VanDeCarr. The show highlights her inspirations of themes such as permanence, unity, and the juxtaposition between natural and artificial forms. VanDeCarr’s designs features skulls using high contrast and vibrant color via scratchboard and mixed media. The work will be displayed April 2 through April 24.

 

 

Brothers Drake
See artist Amy Turn Sharp featuring her Poetry Art Show at Brothers Drake. Amy will be writing poems on demand on March 31 from 5:00-8:00pm. Gallery Hop live music with THE RAD TRADS (NYC).
