Wexner Center For The Arts, 1871 N. High St., Columbus, OH 43210
8 PM - The legendary German band NEU! released only three albums in the early 1970s that showcased Michael Rother's darkly droning electric guitar excursions lifting off over Klaus Dinger's propulsive motorik drumming. But their widespread influence continues to ripple in the directions taken by artists ranging from David Bowie to Sonic Youth, U2, and Wilco among many others. While assembling the recently released NEU! vinyl box set, Rother was inspired to invite Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth and Aaron Mullan of Tall Firs to perform the music of NEU! in concert with him. They'll also offer selections from Rother's stint in Harmonia, a group Brian Eno called "the world's most important rock band." www.wexarts.org/pa/index.php?eventid=4899 | Friday, September 10, 2010 | | | Rodney Yee & Colleen Saidman Open Class Yoga On High, 1081 N High St., Columbus, OH 43201

High Street, Columbus, OH 43201
From Johnny B. Goode to Jimi Hendrix, we'll explore the impact of the guitar on American music and culture.
Grammy Award-winning guitarist Vernon Reid is probably best known for leading the band Living Colour; his rampant eclecticism encompassing everything from hard rock and punk to funk, R&B and avant-garde jazz, with his anarchic, lightning-fast solos becoming something of a hallmark. From his days of accompanying Diana Krall to his stand-out performances with Pink Martini, Dan Faehnle has received the highest praise from audiences and critics alike. There's no description more apt for Sheryl Bailey than a sizzling guitar goddess.
Season subscriptions are now available through the CAPA Ticket Office at 39 East State Street or by calling 614-469-0939. Single tickets will go on sale August 30 for $49 (main floor), $46 (first balcony) and $41 (second balcony). High St., Columbus, OH 43210
8 PM. There's nothing like being in the presence of genius, and Van Dyke Parks is certifiably established in that category. He's earned a devoted following while taking a truly singular path that's included film and television work, as well as such musical projects as the tasteful orchestrations he's recently framed for Joanna Newsom and Inara George. But his live appearances are few and far between, making this concert a rare treat for discerning fans.
The Brooklyn-based chamber pop band Clare and the Reasons will open the show as well as provide backing for Van Dyke Parks. Fronted by Clare Manchon and Olivier Manchon, their acclaimed sophomore release Arrow included contributions by Van Dyke and Sufjan Stevens. This evening will be presented in our intimate cabaret-style setting—so don’t delay in securing your tickets. www.wexarts.org/pa/index.php?eventid=4901 | Saturday, September 25, 2010 | | | Columbus Microbrew Festival North Market, 59 Spruce Street, Columbus, OH 43215
