The renowned Alloy Orchestra returns to provide its signature musical accompaniment to the restored version of Fritz Lang’s sci-fi masterpiece Metropolis. Both of Alloy’s past visits to the Wex were raucous, crowd-pleasing events that ended in standing ovations. With a clanging style perfectly suited to the industrial backdrop of this timeless classic, Alloy’s third appearance promises to be the most monumental yet!

Fritz Lang’s Metropolis has long had a reputation as one of the most visionary films in cinema history, but the 2008 discovery—in a private collection in Buenos Aires—of 25 minutes of long-lost footage finally restored the film to the full masterpiece that Lang originally made. Based in Cambridge, MA, the Alloy Orchestra (percussionist Terry Donahue, director Ken Winokur, and keyboardist Roger C. Miller) has accompanied a wide range of silent-era films in every corner of the US, as well as in countless countries abroad. This is sure to be as spectacular a night of movie and music as you could ever hope to find! (147 mins., DCP)
