Pizzuti Collection Family Day

12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Categories

Family Day at Pizzuti Collection is a wonderful opportunity to gather the family for a full day of arts programming. Enjoy complimentary admission while exploring the exhibitions on view. Children and adults will have the opportunity for crafts and activities and guided tours.

This Family Day at Pizzuti Collection we will be constructing animal masks – real or imagined! Using cardboard, twine, craft paper and glue, they will make imaginary creatures come to life! Do you have more than one Halloween event to dress up for? Come to Family Day to add that handmade mask to your costume closet! Craft will take place from 12:00pm until 3:00pm.

At 1:30pm, right after the Family Day tour, they will have an organic indigo dye vat prepared outside the Pizzuti Collection in the Sculpture Garden! Inspired by artist Aboubakar Fofana’s textile artwork, Miiri, they will be hosting an Indigo Dyeing Activity. They will use Japanese Shibori techniques to resist-dye t-shirts. White cotton t-shirts will be provided to all participants, but you can also bring your washed white socks or pillow cases to give them some color!

They will also be inviting visitors to join them by participating in the For Freedoms Lawn Signs activation. Inspired by politician’s campaign signage, For Freedoms lawn sign activations encourage participants to produce and publicly display their own definition of freedom by filling out signs that say: Freedom Of…, Freedom From…, Freedom For…, and Freedom To…

The For Freedoms Lawn Sign activation is in conjunction with the For Freedoms exhibition and the 50 State Initiative.
