Thrill Me, an intense psychological musical, makes its regional premiere at the Garden Theater. It focuses on two brilliant, wealthy 19-year-old gay men — Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb. In 1924 in Chicago they committed the “Crime of the Century.” It was a senseless thrill killing that scandalized the nation.

Thrill Me probes through powerful songs the chilling, obsessive relationship between the two young men. Written by Stephen Dolginoff, this chamber musical tells the macabre story through flashbacks on a near-bare stage. It combines dark humor and a fascinating, edgy take on history. “Lands like a well-placed punch, arresting and a bit breathtaking,” wrote the New York Times. The Los Angeles Times called the local premiere a “thunderbolt…an enthralling musical that grips us with the morbid fascination of monsters played by children.” The Hollywood Reporter described this off-Broadway hit as “verismo opera, complete with feverish kisses and embraces, with musical sounds and styles drawn from Broadway and the bittersweet ballads of Franz Schubert and Kurt Weill.

Starring Luke Stewart as Nathan Leopold and Evan Hoffman as Richard Loeb. Directed by Edward Carignan. Intense and unforgettable, this two person musical features strong themes and nudity.
