SHORT NORTH ARTS DISTRICT HAS PRIDE

 

The Short North Arts District community continues to be an important supporter of the Stonewall Columbus Pride Parade. Although the festival location is changing for 2017, the Parade route will actually be expanding throughout the Short North Arts District along High Street, with the lineup area extending from Poplar to 5th Avenue.

Short North Arts District businesses all along High Street will open their doors early for the first ever Pride Hop to show their support for the 36th Annual Pride Parade. Stroll through businesses in the Short North Arts District during the Pride Hop all morning while you experience the entire parade take formation during the parade lineup. Businesses will open as early as 7:00am, with many featuring Pride specials or offering to hold purchase for later pick up. Keep reading for a complete list of participating businesses.

Start your day with a full breakfast at Gallerie Bar & Bistro, Tasi Cafe, or The Guild House (6:30am), a refreshing juice or smoothie at Native Cold Pressed or Zest Juice Co., or a coffee from One Line Coffee or Short North Coffee House (6:00am).

Get your kicks early at The Chamber, The Garden, & The Joint.

Open at 8:00am

Pick up an Advanced Training rainbow singlet at Columbus Running Company to receive coaching, race discounts, and more.

Grab a coffee and a pastry at Impero Coffee, Laughlin’s Bakery, Mission Coffee, or Short North Piece of Cake.

Find everything you need for a perfect Pride at TORSO and celebrate at the heart of the lineup at Nina West’s Kiss My Biscuits Pride Drag Brunch Buffet at Union Cafe. Reserve your time between 8:00am and 9:00am here.

Plenty of time for a quick brunch at Bareburger, Biscuit & Branch, North Market, Northstar Cafe, Philco, or The Pearl. Just want a delicious libation? Brothers Drake is your spot.

Take in some art while you wander at Hammond Harkins Galleries.

Shop around and pick up your purchases later at Clothe Ohio, Fount (free shipping also available), Glean, HOMAGE, Manhood +Home, Oats & Barley Market (refrigerated foods cannot be held), Out of the Closet, Pet Valu, pm gallery, Quinci Emporium, and Surprise! Modern Party. Additionally, Global Gifts (9:30am) will offer to round up customer purchases to support Kaleidoscope Youth Center.

Squeeze in some last-minute shopping at Emi Pet, Flower Child, Magnolia Thunderpussy, On Paper, Rocket Fizz, The Lamp Shade, and White Horse Vapor.

Grab some nosh to go from Forno, Level, Short North Pint House, or Standard Hall.

Pride Parade participants will line up all along High Street from 5th Avenue to Goodale Street from 7:00am – 10:30am, and the parade will step off at Goodale Street at 10:30am. Click here to see the lineup map. High Street parking meters will be bagged at 4:00am and unbagged by 1:30pm on Saturday. High Street will be closed to vehicular traffic beginning at 7:00am and reopened by 1:30pm. Traffic will be permitted to cross High Street at 5th Avenue, West Starr Avenue/E. Second Avenue, and Goodale Street during the lineup.

Pride Parade participants can click here for detailed parking maps, including disability parking, non-reserved parking, the layout of downtown, and a direct link to online reservation system Parking Panda. Participants can use Hopper Carts, Uber, or Lyft to get to the parade. Hopper Carts will be available Saturday morning from 8:00am – 10:30am for transportation from their pickup location to the Parade Lineup on High Street. Hopper Carts’ designated pickup location will be at the intersection of 4th St and Spring St. They will drop off passengers at 1st St and Summit St. We kindly ask that you please remember to tip your drivers! Please download their app to use this option on the day of the event. Uber and Lyft riders should be dropped off at their nearest section:

  • Section A – 581 Park St
  • Section B – 139 E. 2nd Ave
  • Section C – 1230 N. High St

For non-parade participants who want to visit the District and support Pride, all parking garages in the District will be open and accessible during the lineup. The Goodale Garage will offer $10.00 parking all day.

COTA will reroute several lines during the Pride Parade and lineup. To get to the Short North using a COTA bus, use:

  • Lines 1, 2, 2L, 5, & 6 (northbound): Will reroute to N. Fourth St at State St and resume regular route at 5th Ave
  • Lines 1, 2, 2L, 5, & 6 (southbound): Will reroute to Summit St at 5th Ave and resume regular route at State St
  • CBUS (northbound): Will reroute to N. Fourth St at State St, turn left onto E. Second Ave, turn right onto Mt. Pleasant Ave, turn right onto Summit St, and resume regular route at State St
  • CBUS (southbound): Will reroute to Summit St, turn right onto State St, and resume regular route at High St
