If you’re a student with a week off from classes or a working adult looking for a weekend of relaxation, you need not travel far. Palm trees and cabin trips are nice, but the logistics can be expensive and your friends can be flaky. That stress is the opposite of the true spirit of vacation! Why not stay in Columbus for your Spring Break getaway?
Or, perhaps some out-of-town friends or family are coming to visit as part of their vacation and you need entertainment options. You want to show them your city is a great destination they’ll want to return to next year.
Regardless, the Short North Arts District has everything you need!
Fun for everyone awaits at Amaze, The Columbus Escape Experience. If you’re not feeling the salon or spa yet, burn off some of that adrenaline by playing any of their three District-themed escape rooms.
Columbus Food Adventures Short North Food Tour
Savor the District’s culinary delights with Columbus Food Adventures. The tour includes tastings at six to seven stops, which is plenty of food for lunch, complete with Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams for dessert. Between stops, the experienced guide with a wealth of local culinary knowledge will walk you through approximately 1.5 miles of colorful history of the Short North Arts District neighborhood.

Perhaps you’d like to try something new or hone skills you already have while taking a break from class or work. Danceville, U.S.A. offers daily classes and private lessons where you can learn how to hustle, waltz, cha-cha, and swing dance your way through spring. Come solo or bring a partner to learn five basic movies at their one-hour beginner’s classes held Monday through Thursday at 7:00pm, or call to schedule a private lesson.

Soul at The Joseph
Soul at The Joseph‘s master mixologists invite you to join them each Friday from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm as they tour some of the world’s most unique “browns” accompanied by live music, in a rotational series called “Whiskey on High.” Stop in during your staycation to let your hair down and taste some wines.
SALONS AND SPAS
Check out any of the District’s fantastic spas for the liberation you deserve. After all those midterms, overtime hours, or kid-sized messes cleaned up, don’t hold back from treating yourself! If you’re also looking to freshen up your ‘do, be sure to see the complete list of salons and spa establishments here.
The Short North Arts District believes that shopping should be an experience; one that is a welcome contrast to the sterile, impersonal feelings one gets when shopping at a big box department store. You can put together fresh spring outfits from multiple boutiques or build something entirely in one place at your leisure here.
For even more shopping options, see the complete Shopping Guide.
Make a day (or more!) dedicated to walking down High Street and popping into the District’s varied shopping establishments during your staycation – like Glean, where you can look dandy and dapper with Spring-colored reversible bow ties, or rowe boutique, where you’ll find a selection of fresh wardrobe additions.
Or, perhaps you need a new pool-ready look. The sun may be scarcer around here but that doesn’t mean we don’t carry fabulous beachy clothing and accessories – like this sarong, hand-made and free-trade from Indonesia ready for purchase at Global Gifts, or the gorgeous dresses for women ages 0 and up available at Cub Shrub and Tigertree.
Speaking of Spring fashion, don’t forget to RSVP to Friends & Fashion: A Style Presentation Pop Up, a special collaborative event of shopping, styling, and champagne! On Wednesday, March 7, browse pop up shops by your favorite Short North Arts District retailers at Le Meridien Columbus, The Joseph, including STORE 5A, rowe boutique, KILN, Ladybird, and more. Additionally, enjoy braids by The Blowout Bar, shoe shining, catered bites, and complimentary valet parking. Find more information here.
So you’ve sent this blog post to your guests whom are choosing Columbus as their vacation destination. There’s so much to do here in the Short North Arts District, they may be wanting to stay a while! Should they need a B&B or hotel, check out the Lodging page.
