This holiday season, a few Columbus insiders are sharing their favorite wish list items from shops in the Short North Arts District. Grow Restaurants’ CEO and long time fan of the Short North Arts District Chris Crader took at day to explore the neighborhood and give you his family’s picks of the season.
The holiday season has always been a very special time of year for me. The chill in the air, the gathering of friends and family and mostly a time to slow down (at least a little bit) are things we cherish. With the addition of our daughter Avery, this season has become even more special. The Short North Arts District really shines this time of year, as all of our friends and fellow small business owners light up their shops and make Christmas shopping too easy! My wife Bethany, Avery, and I began our Short North Arts District shopping adventure with cappuccino and hot chocolate from Mission Coffee Co. and One Line Coffee.
Left to right:
1.) I could have fulfilled my wish list at Tigertree. I especially love the Filson jackets.
2.) These Geier goat hide gloves are also from Tigertree, which I couldn’t pass up.
3.) Next stop was Cub Shrub where Avery had a blast. What a great addition to our city! Avery picked out a few books, Bethany and I picked out a great hat (pictured) and an adorable romper. She really enjoyed their mini shopping carts.
4.) Rowe is Bethany’s guilty pleasure. While she would love to put the whole store on the list, this heavy winter coat from Mackage was her top pick.

5.) I always enjoy a visit to the Cookware Sorcerer. Any pan, any knife will make me a happy cook.
6.) Bethany has had her eye on a vintage desk at Grandview Mercantile. Hopefully it’s still there by the time Santa comes around!
7.) As an avid backpacker, I would love to put a few miles in the Hoka hiking boots from the Columbus Running Company.
8.) Afterward, my favorite holiday tradition in the Short North Arts District is a stop at Barley’s Brewing Co. for a Christmas Ale.
