8It’s here – that quintessentially Ohio time of year. There’s a crispness in the air, piles of leaves dot your neighborhood, and our relationship with sunlight is now very complicated; Happy Holidays!

While bike outings and days at the pool are out of the question, what better setting could we ask for to feel good about spending a cozy day inside than drinking some Brothers Drake Apple Pie mead, curled up in a sweater from Global Gifts, or relaxing to a new record from Magnolia? None, and with the cornucopia-filling bounty of options that make up the Short North Arts District, this holiday season is going to be a good one.

Throughout the season, the Short North Alliance will also be putting on its annual Instagram photo contest. For shoppers, revelers, and residents, be sure to snap some photos of your holiday in town with #ShortNorthPole for a chance to win a special gift from the neighborhood!

12SANTA SATURDAY: DECEMBER 12

The SNA is partnering with the SantaCon and the Arena District  to promote Santa “Stay-Cation” Weekend on Friday, December 11 and Saturday, December 12. Visitors can enjoy SantaCon on Friday, stay overnight in the Short North Arts District, and then participate in Santa Saturday.

Be they naughty or nice, it’s hard to find someone who hasn’t done at least one Santa photo-op to put a smile on mom or dad, grandma or grandpa. Visitors will receive a discount or promotional item at select retailers if they are wearing their holiday gear. Click here for more information.

This year, take a moment to relive the glory days and pose for a shot with Santa at either Tigertree from 12:00pm – 3:00pm, or Rivet from 3:00pm – 6:00pm. Santa will also be hosting brunches across the District to go with your Benedict and Bloody Mary. Catch him at:

4WRAP IT UP SATURDAY: DECEMBER 19

Drawing the shopping season to a close, come check out the Short North’s Wrap It Up Saturday. Bring any gifts you purchased in the District to either the Garden Theater or The Joseph Hotel and have them gift wrapped for free!

Thanks to Dress for Success Columbus will be wrapping gifts at The Joseph Hotel, and is requesting a donation of new or gently used clothing items (especially accessory scarves). Neighborhood Services Inc. will be wrapping at the Garden Theater, and is requesting a donation of nonperishable food items for each gift wrapped.
