Sarah Gormley Gallery
The July exhibit at Sarah Gormley Gallery is a visual conversation …About Art. In this two-man show, artists Dan Gerdeman and Daniel Rona explore elements of the artistic process – from ideation to final execution, and the individual expression throughout. The show was inspired by seeing their interaction at Rona’s opening reception at SGG last year, and upon learning that Gerdeman was, in fact, Rona’s high school art teacher in Hilliard, Ohio.

With his start as a graffiti artist, Rona’s works tell stories about concepts of love, hate, life, and death, with a focus on growth. The composition of symbols that began with the rapid expression of graffiti now live in pieces that reflect both personal and universal truths about the human experience, and with this show, his work becomes more figuratively expressive.

Gerdeman is an artist, experimental filmmaker, animator, and art educator whose work as an artist takes on a cartoon-like realism. His toothy characters focus on the triumphs and failures of the human condition. Gerdeman teaches Advanced Drawing, Film and Animation, and AP Studio art at Hilliard Davidson High School.

Weah will be displaying thirty black and white charcoal drawings influenced by memories of nature from the days of his formative African upbringing, encapsulated in the artist statement: “A lover of silver is not satisfied with silver, nor is the lover of wealth with income. As for me, I am satisfied with what little I have.”

Weah’s original drawing “Satisfied,” will be on display during this show, and was recently selected, reproduced, and installed at 1359 N High St (The Hippie Hut) as part of One World. This show will be on display through August 29, 2020.
