Short North Arts District shop On Paper has been sharing a passion for paper with Columbus since 1997, and this holiday season they are inviting you to share in that passion by sending a free holiday card to a wounded warrior in the United States military. Through Operation Gratitude, an organization that has sent nearly a million care packages to armed forces members since 2003, you will be able to write a message in a card and send that card to those military personnel at no cost to you!

Stop by their shop, located at 737 N. High St, December 1-7. Choose a card, write your message, and On Paper will take care of the rest! Once your card is written, On Paper will send their collection of cards to a centralized location, where they will then be distributed to soldiers and military hospitals.

Joan Schnee, owner of On Paper, says that this is the shop’s second year taking part in the project. Last year, they sent their cards to soldiers deployed around the world and away from their families, and this year they are hoping to send a kind message to another group of soldiers who have made sacrifices for their country. She says that they “have been hearing more and more about soldiers returning wounded and damaged, whether it’s physical wounding or mental wounding,” so this year all cards collected will be sent to soldiers who have been wounded during their service. She adds, “We are all about communicating in written word,” and that they would like “to send an actual card to help them celebrate the holidays.”

Stop in and share a handwritten expression of appreciation for the sacrifice these wounded soldiers made for their country. For more information about Operation Gratitude visit operationgratitude.com.
