If Columbus’ spring weather is any indication of what to expect in the summer, it’s going to be a hot one. From new offerings to familiar favorites, you can soak up the sun on a patio or near an open window at one of these Short North Arts District bars or restaurants. Short North Pint House & Beer Garden
Short North Pint House & Beer Garden, which recently celebrated its one-year anniversary, features wide-open windows to compliment its wide-open space. With over 30 draft beers, over 75 beers total, and an inventive beer cocktail list, Pint House’s offerings have something for everyone.

Stop by for happy hour Monday through Friday from 3:00pm to 6:00pm and get half off select drafts and food, or get half a beer-brined chicken, fries, and a beer for only $10 every Wednesday. You can also try a new beer every Wednesday during Tap Takeover, which features a new brewery each week, and share with friends some short rib nachos, a pretzel sampler, skillet mac ‘n cheese, or a pizza. Pint House also features Saturday and Sunday brunch from 11am-3:00pm and a Sunday Funday Service Industry Party from 7:00pm to 11:00pm with $3.00 craft beers, $5.00 Long Islands, and $5 burger and fries.

Arch City Tavern
Another Short North restaurant celebrating its first year in the District, Arch City Tavern offers an impressive beer menu and scotch, bourbon, and whiskey selection. Their food menu is carefully crafted to compliment the drink menu, from shareables such as wings, mussels, sliders, and pizzas, to fish and chicken sandwiches and artisan burgers boasting ground short-rib, sirloin, chuck, and brisket. Arch City, so named for the the arches that lined major Columbus streets, including the remaining Short North arches, features inviting and familiar decor including exposed brick, rich wood, and large windows that open to High Street. During happy hour Monday through Friday from 3:00pm to 7:00pm, enjoy half off all drafts, half off wines by the glass, and half off pizzas.

Marcella’s Ristorante, Pizzeria & Wine Bar
Beloved Cameron Mitchell restaurant and Short North staple Marcella’s offers an authentic Italian experience from traditional food and wine to a community meal, which is even more complete with open windows. Their food menu is host to all your favorite Italian classics, the flavors of which are elevated by Marcella’s signature style. Try a selection of olives, cheeses, and meats, an appetizer of arancini or sweet Italian sausage, and don’t forget the pasta dishes, such as capellini al pomodoro, penne alla arrabiata, or spaghetti and the famous Marcella’s meatball made with braised veal. Happy hour is Monday through Friday from 4-6pm and features half price on select food and drink, and every Sunday and Monday offers 25% off Italian wine bottles during Wine Enthusiast Night.

Le Chocoholique
With a breathtaking array of imaginatively tantalizing truffles, Le Chocoholique boasts an ever-changing chocolate and cocktail menu, made all the more inviting by the large open windows. From classics such as fleur de sel caramel chocolate truffles to inventive bleu cheese truffles and Cointreau morsels, this chocolaterie is sure to satisfy every taste bud. Stop by happy hour Monday through Friday from 3-7pm, or keep an eye out for one of their weekend chocolate tastings, which have previously been paired with wine, beer, Brothers Drake mead, or OYO liquors. Gals looking for a fun night out can enjoy Ladies Night, Wednesdays from 3:00pm to 10:00pm.

Nida’s Thai on High
Even the warmest summer afternoons can be spiced up at Nida’s Thai on High, which opens its windows to High Street. Fresh spring rolls, crab rangoon, and fried tofu are just some of the shareable appetizers, and a selection of Thai specialities, curry, fried rice, noodles, and stir fry make up Nida’s famous menu. Monday through Friday from 4:00pm to 6:30pm, enjoy happy hour specials including $5.00 signature cocktails, $3.00 appetizers and sushi, and $1.00 off bottled beers.

La Fogata Grill
Home to a large patio covered by sun-kissed umbrellas, icy margaritas, and authentic Mexican food, summer stops at La Fogata Grill feel like a vacation. With $2.00 draft beers, $3.00 house margaritas, and half price select appetizers during happy hour Monday through Thursday from 3:00pm to 6:00pm, you can experience a personal oasis in the heart of the Short North. Voted Best Happy Hour for six years running in Columbus Alive, the newly renovated Bodega features a carefully curated beer selection of over 40 drafts plus bottles and cans, new cocktails, and a smaller but heartier food menu that focuses on fish and chicken comfort dishes.
