“tavares strachan: the day tomorrow began”

“Tavares Strachan: The Day Tomorrow Began” is the first museum survey in the U.S. of pathbreaking conceptual artist Tavares Strachan. Defining himself as an explorer & storyteller, Strachan has developed a singular artistic practice fusing art, science, and cultural inquiry. At the heart of the exhibition is his “Encyclopedia of Invisibility,” an evolving compendium of “hidden” histories, which the artist has compiled into an open-ended archive of figures, events, and ideas suppressed within canonizing historical narratives. The “Encyclopedia” has inspired many of Strachan’s recent projects, including his monumental sculptures, works in glass and ceramic, paintings, tapestries, self-playing musical instruments, and room-scale installations.

Exhibition dates 05.16.26 – 01.03.27
