Marcia Evans Gallery
Artist Annette Poitau exhibits “A Study in Color” at Marcia Evans Gallery (shown right) opening Reception Friday, April 5th, 5:30-8:30PM. The exhibit will run through May 25, 2013. A French-born American painter, Annette received her MFA with honors from the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs in Paris and studied in New York. This solo show represents bold new abstracts, rich in color and texture, and grounded in dynamic natural forms representative of the earth and elements of the human body. Annette explores a technique that is analogous to the geological processes of sedimentation and erosion that help to shape the earth.

 

Brandt-Roberts Galleries
Join Brandt-Roberts for the opening reception of the April exhibit, “City of Light,” which will feature scenes of Paris by several of the gallery artists.  Also included will be historic works circa 1920-1960 by Paris-trained artists who were heavily influenced by their studies there. Opening reception is Friday evening April 5th 5:30-8:30PM.

 

Lindsay Gallery
Lindsay Gallery presents carvings by Stephen Sabo (1903-2002).  Join us to see these amazing works Gallery Hop night or come early to the opening reception Friday April 5, 6:00-9:00PM.  Stephen Sabo carved in virtual obscurity over a period of seven decades on the south side of Columbus, Ohio. After he passed away his work sat in storage for many years until it came to the attention of Lindsay Gallery. After cataloging the work, the gallery first showed a group of pieces at the 2013 NY Outsider Art Fair where the work was singled out by New York Times reviewer Roberta Smith.

 

Palnik Studios
Palnik Studios presents “Massive Thrills” by Willy Cupcake Putterbaugh, 12 oil paintings by the famed accountant turned artist. Stop by during Gallery Hop for roller hot dogs, pop corn and balloons for the kiddies. The exhibit will run through May 28th.

Come celebrate the completion of pm gallery’s relocation into their new space at 1190 N High St at their Grand Re-Opening party! Ceremonial Procession will start at 5PM at their former location of 726 N High St. With banging of drums and ringing of bells the group will proceed to 1190 N High St. Food and beverage will be served, music will be played, all are welcome for this joyous occasion!

 

Roy G Biv Gallery
ROY G BIV Gallery is proud to present the artwork of Jaime Bennati and Liam O’Connor from April 6th-27th, with an opening reception during Gallery Hop 7:00 – 10:00PM. An artists’ talk will cap the exhibition on April 27th at 2:30PM.  Bennati and O’Connor are both presenting installations; Bennati’s work is an imaginative recreation of her travels in Goiânia, Brazil; O’Connor’s is an obsessive faux-parquet flooring that will record gallery traffic through its evolving appearance throughout the month.
Rivet
The Artwork of Jeffrey Richter displays at Rivet during the April Gallery Hop. Enhancing and changing life to fit specifically in certain situations, his drawings are ideas showing the analogies of real life through renderings of humans blended with machines and animals.  Additionally, Rivet is happy to announce, with blessings from The Reverend Dave Johnson and the Original Drink and Draw Social Club: the Official Drink and Draw Ohio chapter. Stop by during Gallery Hop and learn more about the Drink and Draw Social Club. First session is April 9th at 7PM.

Craig Carlisle exhibits “Petite Heads & The Peaceful Valley Paintings” at Sharon Weiss Gallery April 5th – 30th, opening reception April 5th 6-8PM.

 

Studios on High Gallery
Studios on High Gallery exhibits “Art for the Home & Garden” opening reception during Gallery Hop Saturday. The exhibit will run through April 31st.  Ceramic sculpture by Denise Romecki adds grace and interest to landscapes and patios.

Terra Gallery
Terra Gallery presents the Spring Salon Show for April and May 2013.  Show begins April 6 and runs through May 29, 2013. See painting and other works from gallery artists such as Heather Niebert whose work “Between Land and Sea” is shown right.

Dames Bond Marketplace Mother Artists at Work exhibit
Dames Bond Marketplace will exhibit “Mother Artists at Work,” a collective of 10 artists displayed in the shop from oil paintings to mixed media. Master puppetier – Pam Spence will also be at the shop for some fun entertainment and new artist, Dawn McCombs will feature her exhibit “Messages in a bottle.”

April Gallery Hop kicks off our “Garden Revival” month at Grandview Mercantile!  The store will be packed with all sorts of garden and outdoor “art” items that you won’t find anywhere else in Columbus.  Vintage outdoor dining tables and chairs, antique architectural pieces that can be used as garden art, vintage urns, fountains, re-purposed industrial and much more!

 

House Beer “Arts and Crafts” night

Surly Girl SaloonBetty’s Fine Food + Spirits
Gallery Hop Saturday – all Columbus Food League restaurants will donate 10% of food sales to a long time employee of the community, Mike Covington.  Covington recently underwent serious heart surgery, even with insurance, the financial burden is significant and proceeds will be donated to assist with the cost of surgery, recovery and aftercare.  Additionally, $1 of every PBR sold will also be donated at Betty’s Fine Food & Spirits, Surly Girl Saloon and the other Columbus Food League establishments. “Mike Covington has been one of our most loyal employees at Surly Girl Saloon and Dirty Frank’s for 5 years. Work is his family, and he has always said not even retirement will get him to leave Columbus Food League.
