studio tabletop

The theme for Ballenger’s August solo exhibition is “Studio Tabletop” – it includes larger oil paintings, smaller oil paintings called Details, and photograph enlargements – all of these artworks are based on yearly images that come from the table he paints on in his studio – the actual table is included in the exhibition.  This theme speaks to buildup and accumulation and variety of form over time.

the gathered

The Gathered is a 625 sq ft tile mosaic by North Carolina-based artist Andrew Hendrixson. The mosaic, composed of an undulating rhythm of nearly 400,000 12 mm bespoke glass tiles, reminds viewers of the individual small pieces that comprise the whole, a metaphor for community. It is installed on the east-facing wall of the Parkside on Pearl building, facing Italian Village Park.
