AUGUST EXHIBITIONS IN THE SHORT NORTH ARTS DISTRICT

Gallery Hop in the Short North Arts District is back again on Saturday, August 5, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

For over 35 years, Gallery Hop has taken over High St., filling the district with new art exhibitions, local artists, performers, vendors, and more. This month, art lovers are invited to take a self-guided tour of local galleries, featuring new artworks on display, as well as explore local boutiques and public art throughout the Short North Arts District.

During the July Gallery Hop, 83 Gallery, will showcase over 180 pieces of local artwork from 66 different artists. Stop by, enjoy a glass of Mead, and support local artists.

Brandt-Roberts Galleries | 642 N High St.

Brandt-Roberts Galleries presents a Summer Selection series. Spanning from July to August, the exhibition consists of an array of work from the artists on our roster that communicate the light, languid heat and color of long summer days. As these days approach, we can look to these artists to remind us what the season is for – picnics in the park with friends, busy beaches, and the suspension of time between the promise of spring and the fulfilling harvest of autumn.

Pizzuti Collection of the Columbus Museum of Art | 632 Park St

Pizzuti Collection of the Columbus Museum of Art

“Greater Columbus” features work by artists in central Ohio who have been recognized for their outstanding talent. The exhibition represents a continuing partnership between the Columbus Museum of Art (CMA) and the Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC). Featured artists include Hannah Parrett, Benedict Scheuer, Matelli Graves, Roger Beebe, George Rush, and Joshua Penrose. Presented biennially, “Greater Columbus” features work by outstanding artists based in central Ohio. 

Also on view: “Was It Your Trigger Finger?” featuring work by artist Bobby T. Luck. Focusing on decolonizing modern imagery and media, Luck’s work re-imagines globalization and the self by breaking down diplomatic and emotional borders through film, collage, and sculpture.

Sean Christopher Gallery Ohio | 815 N High St. Ste H

Sean Christopher Gallery Ohio will feature the show titled “Beauty in the Basement” by artist Lynda McClanahan through August 19 with a mid-exhibition reception during the August Gallery Hop   on Saturday, August 5, 4-8 PM

Sharon Weiss Gallery | 20 E Lincoln St.

Stop by Sharon Weiss Gallery during the August Gallery Hop to witness their new exhibition titled “Sips”. This series of oil paintings by Steven S. Walker depicts a drinking glass or container with an object that stems from the artist’s life. This series focuses on the positive side of life from an artist who suffers from depression and anxiety. Take the journey with Steven as he finds the positive side of daily life.

The Little Blue House by Sharon Weiss Gallery | 24 E Lincoln St.

There are four resident women artists of 24 Lincoln Street Art Studios, fondly known as “The Little Blue House by Sharon Weiss Gallery”, Amy Adams, Lisa Parks Godfrey, Karen LaValley and Tamar Rudavsky. The foyer gallery showcases the individuality of each of these women artists, both in subject matter and artistic expression. Housed in 24 E. Lincoln St are 2 galleries and 4 working studios.

Artist: Tracy Greenwalt

Studios On High Gallery | 686 N. High St.

Mixed-media artist Tracy Greenwalt utilizes the landscape format to explore metaphysical themes in Studios on High Gallery’s August Gallery Hop exhibition titled “Yesterday’s Tomorrow World”. By inserting people and objects into an imaginary landscape, Greenwalt hopes the lack of context will compel the viewer to assign a level of significance to the subjects according to their own frame of reference.
