Bebe Miller Company In a Rhythm

Wexner Center Artist Residency Award

World Premiere

“Delivered its own kind of beauty: subtle, enthralling, and ever so sensually satisfying.”
Dance Magazine on Bebe Miller Company

Join us for the world premiere of the latest project by nationally acclaimed, Columbus-based choreographer Bebe Miller—a suite of works and accompanying events that explore the dance-making process, the language of dance, and the dance of language.

Developed with the support of a creative residency at the Wex, In a Rhythm was conceived during a yearlong dialogue between Miller, an Ohio State professor emerita, and fellow choreographer Susan Rethorst. Stemming from Miller’s recent engagement with experimental theater and inspired by Toni Morrison, Gertrude Stein, and David Foster Wallace—writers who capture diverse connections through the structure of their language—the project explores the syntax of movement and how we absorb its meaning. The work presented here will be based on the distinct material Miller generated, just as Rethorst will devise her own program from this shared process.

To complement the work you’ll see onstage at the Wex, Miller will also create a special installation to explore before and after the performances. Discover the latest nuances in Miller’s captivating movement ideas at these immersive, cross-disciplinary events.
