As the second installment of the Community Speakers Series, Peace + Love + Bling is proud to host Denise Kontras of the Ohio Domestic Violence Network on Thursday, August 17, 2017 beginning at 5:30pm. In addition to opportunity for community and conversation, you will learn why domestic/dating violence is prevalent, how to identify the warning signs of an abuser, and the impact of intimate partner violence in the LGBTQI community.

At the state level, Denise serves as the training coordinator where she assists in organizing and presenting trainings on a wide range of topics related to intimate partner violence. Denise has spent the past 15 years working as an advocate, author and speaker. Her forthcoming book, “It’s Not Over When You Leave: 7 Truths of Domestic Violence” will be available on Amazon later this year. A native of Columbus, Denise and three generations of her family graduated from The Ohio State University.

Peace + Love + Bling was founded in 2009 as a curated jewelry collection of genuine pearls and exotic natural stones. Peace + Love + Bling is committed to two guiding principles; adhering to the principles of fair trade, and social responsibility.

We share the concern for the social, economic and environmental well-being of marginalized producers in the United States and globally. This means equitable commercial terms, fair wages and fair prices allowing women to work with dignity and the ability to support their families. Founder LeAnne Johnson Absalom says that, “Peace Love Bling was built on the philosophy that you can build a successful company on the foundation of human service and not make it an afterthought once you are successful.”
