“The world needs more musicians like her: Creatively restless and ambitious.”—NPR Music

Don’t miss the Wex debut of this singular singer, songwriter, bandleader, producer, and truly badass bassist. The first woman to be featured on the cover of Bass Player magazine, Meshell Ndegeocello has survived the best and worst of what a career in music has to offer by being unequivocally herself—eschewing genre for originality, celebrity for longevity, and musical trends for musical truths. Ventriloquism, her new album of covers from the 1980s and 90s, exemplifies what fans have come to expect of Ndegeocello and her sojourns into soul, spoken word, R&B, jazz, hip-hop, and rock—a lyrical search for love, justice, respect, resolution, and happiness.

An in-demand session player as well as a solo artist, Ndegeocello has appeared alongside the Rolling Stones, Madonna, Alanis Morissette, James Blood Ulmer, the Blind Boys of Alabama, Tony Allen, John Medeski, Billy Preston, and Chaka Khan. More recently, she has scored the television dramas Queen Sugar (Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network) and I Love Dick (Amazon).
