Short North Stage at the Garden Theater presents Hand to God. A puppet made from a grey sock, some fake red fur, and a bit of felt might not seem the stuff of evil, but meet Tyrone. This hilariously foul-mouthed puppet from Hell was the toast of Broadway last season as he took over the left hand of a hapless teenager and waged a reign of delightfully blasphemous terror among a group of young people planning a puppet show in a church basement in Texas. Now, Tyrone will make his regional debut in Columbus in this Tony-nominated comedy by Robert Askins.
“At once a grizzly thriller, a crazily hilarious puppet drama with nods to “Avenue Q” and a moving exploration of a young, churchgoing adult crying out for help, this piece is a horror shocker, good date-night fun for college kids, and a deeply compassionate work of theater about ordinary Americans struggling with loss and trying to find their way in the spiritual dark,”—Chicago Tribune.
