Krampus-facebook sliderThe world premiere of an enchanting new musical! Children across Germany and Austria know the legend of Krampus, the Christmas demon who punishes those who have been naughty on December 5. The tale of Krampus takes a heart-warming twist in this original musical, as two youngsters from a long-ago time help transform the cold cruelty of Krampus into a new legend about love and family and the origin of Santa Clause. Created by Nils-Petter Ankarblom, the musical director of Sunday in the Park with George and Fugitive Songs and Carrie Gilchrist, the artistic director of the Lovewell Institute for the Creative Arts. Performances Thursday through Saturday evenings at 8 pm and Sunday matinees at 3 pm. December 10-20
Krampus will be performed with the audience seated on the main stage in intimate proximity to the actors. Bring your sweaters and coats. Blankets supplied if it’s cold. Hot toddies and hot chocolate from Ethel’s Lounge will help warm your heart.
To add to the holiday merriment, each performance will be followed in Ethel’s by our traditional Songs of the Season sing-a-long, featuring your favorite Short North Stage performers.
