About the event Join us for a reading and signing from Matthew Cariello, in celebration of his latest poetry collection, Colloquy on Mad Tom, on Tuesday, June 10th at 7pm!
Matt Cariello will publish two collections of poetry in 2025: Colloquy on Mad Tom (Bordighera Press) and Self Portrait in the Dark (Finishing Line Press). These follow The Empty Field, Talk, and A Boat That Can Carry Two. He’s currently a senior lecturer in the English department at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
Colloquy on Mad Tom is a contemplation on loss, grief, and persistence. The poems move back and forth in time, from childhood to old age, innocence to experience, constantly revisiting the pivot points upon which lives turn. Many of the poems take the form of a modern sonnet written in couplets. At the heart of the book is a colloquy spoken by two people – but not to each other.
