Once again, we’re kicking off our summer of Wex Drive-In screenings with a film by the beloved Wes Anderson. On an idyllic New England isle in 1965, two 12-year-old pen pals run away together into the wilderness, throwing their loved ones, the locals, and a troop of Khaki Scouts into a frantic search to find them. An ideal backdrop for Anderson’s signature visual tailoring, this charming love story stars Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, and Jared Gilman and Kaya Hayward as the young leads. (94 mins., 35mm)
All Wex Drive-In movies start at dusk (generally around 9 PM), but you’re invited to come at 8 PM to choose your spot. Pack up a few blankets or lawn chairs, and get ready to enjoy beer from Seventh Son Brewing, pizza from Mikey’s Late Night Slice, and Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. Members, visit the Wex membership table for your free scoop and other perks. All films are screened in 35mm!
In the event of rain, films screen in Mershon Auditorium at 9 PM. Heirloom Café is open until 8 PM if you want to grab a bite before heading outside.
