Brandt-Roberts Galleries is pleased to announce their first solo exhibition of work by watercolorist Cody Heichel, Peripheral Roots. Heichel is a Columbus-based artist who finds inspiration in his daily environment whose work serves as a visual commentary on the people and structures he encounters. An opening reception will be held Friday, March 2nd from 5:30 – 8:00 pm. The exhibition will be on view through Saturday, March 31st.

Through his depiction of both urban and rural locales, Heichel shows he is deeply rooted and informed by both environments. Rather than competing for the artist’s attention, he finds them equally compelling. His current landscapes hearken the American Regionalist works of the 1930’s, and his stylistic choices provide a contemporary outlook on the idea of place in the Midwest. By purposefully seeking compositions in areas on the periphery of his environment, Heichel offers a different perspective on one’s sense of home.

Peripheral Roots will be on view through March 31. For more information on the opening reception event, click here.
