ROY G BIV Gallery presents the third in a series of four exhibitions highlighting the past, present, and future of ROY. This exhibition showcases artists who have exhibited in the gallery previously, as well as some who have previously applied to exhibit. This group of artists will present a variety of textile, sculptural and ceramic work showcasing a range of practices and areas of concentration. The work will be on display April 7-28 from 1:00pm – 6:00pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Admission is free.
Theresa Touma will install a sight-specific multi-media piece in the gallery, inspired by daily objects and findings that are given a new motive. Touma’s work is dynamic, with numerous parts and pieces attempting, lifting, pulling, stretching, falling, responding to each other, understanding and working with one another. Within her installations there exists a self-governing ecosystem, where each piece functions as part of its community.
Touma received her Bachelor of Fine Art from the Columbus College of Art and Design. She has exhibited at Skylab Gallery, Sean Christopher Gallery and No Place Gallery in Columbus, OH as well as the Zanesville Museum of Art. She currently lives and works in Columbus, OH.

Cat Mailloux will exhibit Mangez des roses, a series of fabric text banners that will hang on the walls of the gallery and rotate throughout the month. Mailloux sources text from words and phrases that leave a significant impression on her. The fabric banners selected to display text demonstrate ideas of fragility and vulnerability, while language finds its place between color and pattern. Mailloux’s work explores the contradictions of being, using means of mark making, language, sewing, and sculptural materials to investigate suffering, love, tenderness, and pain.
Mailloux received her Bachelor of Fine Art in Sculpture at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and is expected to complete her Master of Fine Art in Sculpture at The Ohio State University in Spring 2018. She has exhibited at the Hopkins Hall Gallery in Columbus, OH, Clay Street Press in Cincinnati, OH, Heyde Center for the Arts in Chippewa Falls, WI, and Urban Arts Space in Columbus, OH.

Anita Maharjan will exhibit family portrait, a group of small sculptures made from discarded materials and woven with traditional Nepali weaving methods. This body of work acts like a diverse family of people living under one roof, not unlike the demographic make-up of the United States. Each piece shares similarities with those around it, but expresses its personality and characteristic in a unique way, still ultimately uniting as a singular body of work.
Maharjan received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas in Denton, TX. She is currently an MFA candidate at The Columbus College of Art and Design, where she is expected to graduate in the Spring of 2018. Maharjan has exhibited work at Wild Goose Creative, Sean Christopher Gallery, and the Ohio State Fair Fine Arts Exhibition in Columbus, OH.

Forrest Sincoff Gard and Jeni Hansen Gard will exhibit the collaborative project Commemorating Columbus, a series of commemorative plates memorializing the three years the two spent living together in Columbus, Ohio. There are twelve plates—four for every year—each one representing a season, and including significant places and things. The installation also includes an interactive component where gallery visitors are invited to commemorate a person, place, or thing from Columbus through writing or drawing on paper plates in the gallery, which will then be hung on the wall and shared with the community.
Forrest Sincoff Gard is an artist, associate editor for Ceramics Monthly and Pottery Making Illustrated, and one of the co-founders and member of the Socially Engaged Craft Collective. He received his BFA in Ceramics at Ohio University in Athens, OH and his MFA in Ceramics from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. Gard has recently exhibited at The American Museum of Ceramic Art AMOCA in Pomona, CA, c3: Initiative Gallery in Portland, OR, and Western Colorado Center for the Arts in Grand Junction, CO.

Nick Fagan will show two sculptures that demonstrate a transformation between temporal and permanent states. Fagan uses only the first draft of his process sketches to create a fully-fledged, large-scale sculptures reminiscent of knots, or dark tangles of chords. In doing so, he forces the brief, process oriented sketch to exist as something much more enduring. Fagan’s work and selected imagery is also tied to emotional states both fleeting and final, such as restlessness, anxiety and resignation.
Fagan received an MFA in Sculpture + Extended Media from The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH and a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. Fagan has recently exhibited at ADA Gallery in Richmond, VA, YARDS projects, Cleveland, OH and The Carnegie in Cincinnati, OH. He has also completed residencies at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT, the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Madison, ME and the Anderson Gallery Residency in Richmond, VA.
