“SOAK exposes longings, fears, traumas and resolve—sometimes elliptically, sometimes with disarming bluntness.”—New York Times

Performing and recording since age 14, singer/songwriter sensation SOAK. (nee Bridie Monds-Watson, from Northern Ireland) has truly come into her own. At the age of 19, her debut record Before We Forgot How to Dream made the shortlist for the UK’s prestigious Mercury Prize 2015 Album of the Year. And as audiences on the both sides of the Atlantic are discovering, her haunting songs resonate live like the best of Cat Power or Laura Marling. AsPaste said, “Sure, Bridie’s music is about being a teenager, but her voice is never twee. It is instead a wise, unwavering, persistently transparent take on adolescence and the misplaced teenage dream.” Expressing her deft navigation of the chaos of coming out and coming-of-age (SOAK is KAOS spelled backwards), this young talent possesses a depth of reflection, plain-spoken poetry, and insight into teen dilemmas that belie her chronological age.
