The Pain of Others (Penny Lane, 2018) Penny Lane in Person
4:30 pm - 6:30 pm
An intimate and unflinching act of radical empathy, The Pain of Others is made entirely from YouTube videos by sufferers of Morgellons. Those afflicted with the mysterious illness say that they have parasites under their skin, colored fibers emerging from lesions on their bodies, and a host of other horrific-sounding symptoms. The film carefully sets up an unsettling encounter with a group of “Morgies” who have turned to YouTube for help and to prove they’re not crazy. (71 mins., DCP)
This screening is presented in conjunction with The Flyover Fest, a fresh and inclusive arts festival featuring literature, film, music, panel discussions, and more in Columbus May 8–11.
This event is free with tickets.
