ABOUT GALLERY HOP

Gallery Hop is a 35+ year tradition in Columbus’ Short North Arts District! Every first Saturday of each month, thousands of visitors converge on the strip to see new art exhibits and add to their growing art collections. With dozens of galleries and non-traditional exhibit spaces, it’s Columbus’ favorite day of the month to celebrate art and community. Due to varying operating hours because of the pandemic, Gallery Hop will now start at 1 p.m., with businesses and galleries staying open throughout the day and night.

ABOUT THE STREET PERFORMER AND VENDOR PROGRAM

UPDATE: Due to the pandemic, many businesses have temporarily adjusted their hours of operation. As a result, July 3 Gallery Hop activities will begin as early as 1 p.m. The Short North Alliance will program performers and vendors between the hours of 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. 

The Short North Alliance holds a Community Market License (No. 2013014800), issued by the City of Columbus Department of Public Safety. The Community Market License allows the Short North Alliance to have authority over the public right-of-way on High Street from Goodale St to 5th Avenue on Gallery Hop Saturdays to ensure public safety during Gallery Hop nights.

Included are the Gallery Hop Performer and Vendor Guidelines for the event in compliance with the City of Columbus rules and regulations. In order to participate during Gallery Hop, you must complete a monthly application via the form below to obtain a permit. Priority will be given to applications received by the 15th of the MONTH PRIOR to the date of Gallery Hop.

Performers and vendors are selected on a monthly basis at the discretion of the Short North Alliance based on the availability of space, overall mix of applicants, and in consideration of other activities that may be happening in the district on a given night. If performers and vendors meet the guidelines and space allows, the Short North Alliance will issue a permit to those selected no later than the Monday BEFORE Gallery Hop.

Please download and read the UPDATED Gallery Hop Performer Guidelines prior to the submission of your application. Your online signature and agreement to these guidelines are required in the form below.

Gallery Hop Vendor & Performer Application

To be considered, please submit your application by the 15th of the month prior to the Hop. Please call Becca at (614) 299.8050 or email becca@shortnorth.org with any additional questions.
  • Priority is given to applications received by the 15th of the month prior to Gallery Hop. You may only apply for one month at a time.
  • Please make sure to enter in your email address correctly. If accepted, all communication and your Gallery Hop permit will be emailed to this address.
  • Select the type of performer/vendor category. Please note that you will be prompted to pay your application fee (if applicable) through our online shop once you submit your application. Your application is not complete and will not be considered until the fee has been processed. The link to our online shop will appear in the confirmation message after you hit submit on your application.
  • If performing, please include links or electronic audio or visual files of your work.

    Upon the acceptance of your application, you will be contacted for further instructions regarding payment. NOTE: If required with your application, the application fee is due immediately once the permit has been issues and is non refundable (rain or shine).
  • This description should include exact number of people, equipment, space required, everything that will be on the sidewalk, etc.
  • If applicable, list your Short North Business Sponsor. Short North Business sponsorship means the business owner would like your performance to be set up on the sidewalk in front of their establishment. This is not a monetary sponsorship. This is not a requirement, but can aid in our placement of you during Gallery Hop. Please include the name, address, and contact information of the business below.
  • Please list your preferred Gallery Hop location placement, if applicable. Include business names, addresses or street corners where you would like to perform.
  • Please select your preferred participation time slot. (You may come earlier and/or stay later than 1pm or 8pm, but this must be communicated to Becca@ShortNorth.org in advance.) Gallery Hop currently starts at 1pm with a variable end time. Hours may be subject to availability.
