JANUARY EXHIBITIONS IN THE SHORT NORTH ARTS DISTRICT

New Year, New Art!

On the first Saturday of every month, hundreds of visitors converge on High Street in the Short North Arts District to celebrate art at Gallery Hop. Throughout the day, Gallery Hoppers enjoy new gallery exhibitions, street performers and artisan vendors, special events and promotions, plus food and drinks throughout the District. With dozens of galleries and non-traditional exhibit spaces, it’s Columbus’ favorite day of the month to celebrate art.

JANUARY GALLERY EXHIBITIONS

Brandt-Roberts Galleries | 642 N High St.

Before they embark into their 2023 exhibition schedule, Brandt-Roberts Galleries will be unveiling an assortment of new works, as well as an eclectic array of pieces from their current inventory for the month of January.

Join Hammond Harkins Galleries for some holiday cheer and its most anticipated exhibition of the year. The annual “Small & Wonderful” show returns with more great artwork and the gallery’s famous salon wall. In addition, stop by during Holiday Hop for a casual conversation with Deidre Hamler, Director of the Aminah Robinson Legacy Project, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Marcia Evans Gallery | 8 E Lincoln St.

Join Marcia Evans Gallery for its exhibit of “Artful Holiday Gifts.” Handmade original paintings, jewelry, wooden birds, chocolate buckeyes, creative ceramics and more will be available by an array of artists.

Sean Christopher Gallery Ohio | 815 N High St. Ste H

David W. Butler’s exhibition titled “Gravity”, a solo exhibition of large scale digital and hand collage, continues through January 28 at Sean Christopher Gallery Ohio. Butler’s combination of digital and hand collage reveal narratives of human strength, introspection, and vulnerability steeped in mythology and allegory. His work is inspired by Mannerism, street art, rock posters, Renaissance art, Modernism, Dadaism, Surrealism and folk art.

Sean Christopher Gallery Ohio’s January Gallery Hop hours are 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a mid-exhibition opportunity to meet the artist.

Sharon Weiss Gallery | 20 E Lincoln St.

Sharon Weiss Gallery presents a salon exhibit of your favorite artists represented by the gallery. Unique styles from realism to abstract will be available.

Studios On High | 20 E Lincoln St.

Studios on High Gallery presents their annual holiday, “The Art of Gifting,” featuring smaller pieces by member artists, ideal for holiday gifting. Patrons can sample a broad range of diverse work from jewelry and oils, to wildlife sculpture, and mixed media collage.

First Commonwealth Bank | 647 N High St.

First Commonwealth Bank is excited to be showcasing the mixed media artwork of Central Ohio artist Katie Hofacker during the January Gallery Hop. Katie has been an art maker since the age of 6. Creating images that border on surrealism, her work allows her to explore a variety of mediums and themes, inviting the viewer to see life in diverse ways. Katie earned her BFA from the Columbus College of Art and Design and her MA from the Ohio State University.

First Commonwealth Bank’s January Gallery Hop hours are from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Stop by to meet the artist!

Stop by Global Gifts during the January Gallery Hop to purchase fair trade products from nearly 40 different countries! They are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to supporting equitable and dignified treatment of artisans and farmers around the world.

Fed Artist_- Julia Barrett

The Fed Artist by Pokebap | 1086 N 4th St.

The Fed Artist by Pokebap will be featuring the show “Roots” during the January Gallery Hop. Seas Kim is the owner of Pokebap and his grandmother planted the idea of rooting heritage and precision in both cooking and creating. His grandmother rooted him into who he is as a person, as a business owner, and the reason why he created Pokebap. The show will be on display from now until January 23.

The Fed Artist by Pokebap is located inside the Historic Budd Dairy Food Hall at 1086 N 4th St, and their January Gallery Hop hours are from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m.

Skully’s Music-Diner | 1151 N High St.

Stop by Skully’s Music-Diner during the January Gallery Hop to see their Space Camp, a show featuring both local and touring EDM Djs and Dubstep, Trap, and Riddem music.
