JULY EXHIBITIONS IN THE SHORT NORTH ARTS DISTRICT

2024 July Gallery Hop in the Short North Arts District occurs on May 4 from 4-8 p.m.

Gallery Hop is turning 40 this year! The July Gallery Hop will fill the district with new local artists, performers, vendors and more. Art lovers and district frequenters should be excited to visit the specialty galleries featuring new artworks on display from a variety of local talented artists. This month, two new gallery pop-ups will be introduced to the district – Summer Spray Gallery Exhibition and Pop-Up Gallery at Winans Chocolates and Coffee. In addition to viewing featured and public art, Gallery Hop visitors are able to explore local boutiques, unique shops and a variety of food and dining venues throughout the Short North Arts District.


JULY GALLERY EXHIBITIONS

Adamah Ceramics | 641 N. High St.

Adamah Ceramics will be featuring ceramicist Jon Stein who is based in Cincinnati Ohio. Stein’s work explores formal elements while shifting lines in space to create balance and contrast. He considers touch heavily in his practice and the functional role of pottery. Additionally, Adamah Ceramics will feature Cincinnati based artist Holly Barrett. Barrett’s work emphasizes the continuous and non-linear nature of how people and stories develop over time and are perceived. She will primarily focus on her tile installation and painterly touch in ceramics. Adamah Ceramics plans to host a reception from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm where bartender Oscar Levya will roll out the second rendition of his Summer Cocktail Series. Levya’s theme is ‘International Libations.’

Brandt-Roberts Galleries | 642 N High St.

BRG is delighted to present a small Spring feature of Chicago-based artist, Jane Carney’s new work. Of her large-scale mixed media pieces, Carney states, “However I initiate the surface, a dialogue begins. It is a conversation, a back and forth of visual bantering. This allows me to work with disparate ideas that evolve from personal experiences and the world around me.”

Jennifer Sowders “Landscapes” Ohio native and CCAD Graduate, Jennifer paints lush and colorful Landscapes with an impressionistic feel, that invites the viewer to take a stroll on the photographic like paths to experience the feeling of nature.

The Little Blue House by Sharon Weiss Gallery | 24 E Lincoln St.

Join us at 24 E. Lincoln St. For Short North Arts Visit 24 Lincoln St. Art Studios fondly known as the Little Blue House by Sharon Weiss Gallery. This historic home houses five working studios and a gallery. The month of July will feature the works of all five artists Amy Adams, Moon Evans, Lisa Parks Godfrey, Karen LaValley and Tamar Rudavsky.

Artist: Neil Donovan

Studios On High Gallery | 686 N. High St.

Time and Again Neil Donovan merges woodworking and art in the design and execution of both functional and purely sculptural works. The artist’s emphasis is on the integration of color and texture in the design of wall hung analog clocks, exploring both the variability of the medium and the harmony of his craft.

Mr. Donovan earned a Master of Arts in Furniture Design at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Over time, the furniture making has largely given way to wood sculpture. A host of outcomes, often including wood turning and the application of color, are achieved through an evolving range of techniques. Works are marked by precise craft, driven into the realm of art with exuberant texture, playful color and a conceptual spirit. Mr. Donovan’s work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, publications and in many public and private collections. The artist currently creates in Columbus, Ohio after arriving from Erie, Pennsylvania in 2022.

Through the power of photography, we invite you to immerse yourself in the beauty and resilience of the LGBTQ+ community as we celebrate love, identity, and the unyielding spirit of pride. • The team of volunteer photographers were lead & organized by the amazingly talented folks at Emma Parker Photography. The exhibition will open through July 12th Additionally, Narcotics Anonymous will be tabling and the Stonewall bar will be open during July’s Gallery Hop.
