July 2022 Gallery Hop – Saturday, July 2

Art lovers are invited to the Short North Arts District for Columbus’ favorite day of the month to celebrate art – Gallery Hop! Enjoy unique solo and group shows at Short North Arts District galleries throughout the day, special events at local businesses, plus street vendors and performers along High Street.

JULY GALLERY HOP EXHIBITIONS

Artist: Jason Morgan

Brandt-Roberts Galleries

Brandt-Roberts Galleries is pleased to present a new series by Ohio artist Jason Morgan. “Heavy Metal” showcases Morgan’s acuity for hyperrealism through metallic objects with highly reflective surfaces. These metallic objects are placed into playfully creative scenes with bright, directional light, as if they are on stage, creating a narrative for the viewer.

Emergent Art + Craft

Emergent Art + Craft features ‘This is America’, a group show of local, emerging artists and their reflections on the American experience. In addition, join them for a closing reception during the July Gallery Hop.

Hammond Harkins Galleries

Join Hammond Harkins Galleries for an exhibition of work by Andrea Myers titled “Summer Selections.” Andrea’s work will be on display beginning June 24 through Aug. 14.

Lindsay Gallery

During the July Gallery Hop, Lindsay Gallery will feature artist Meghan Willis and their exhibition titled “Portraits Stitched in Pride.” This exhibit is Willis’s homage to Gilbert Baker’s original pride flag. When Meghan {she/they} came out as non-binary, they created these portraits as a love letter to the LGBTQ+ community that embraced them. The work is arranged in eight color groupings showcasing the original flag’s colors.

Lindsay Gallery’s June Gallery Hop Hours are 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Marcia Evans Gallery

During the July Gallery Hop, Marcia Evans Gallery will feature artist Annette Poitau, a French-born American painter. Her solo show depicts a polyphony of colors and dynamic shapes that represent environmental landscapes of the earth suspended on the canvas only to continue flowing through the viewer’s imagination. Annette’s work will be on display beginning July 2 through Aug. 28.

Marcia Evans Gallery’s June Gallery Hop Hours are 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Pizzuti Collection of the Columbus Museum of Art

As part of FotoFocus biennial, CMA presents “I Hear America Singing: Contemporary Photography from America at the Pizzuti Collection of the Columbus Museum of Art.” Encompassing more than 100 photographic projects at participating venues across Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Dayton, and Columbus, the 2022 FotoFocus biennial is presented under the theme of World Record. The theme considers photography’s extensive record of life on earth, humankind’s impact on the natural world, and the choices we now face as a global community.

Sarah Gormley Gallery

Join Sarah Gormley Gallery and local artist Adam Brouillette for his latest exhibition of work, “Expedition to Eudemonia,” which explores themes of new opportunities, journeys and happiness. The opening reception will be held during Gallery Hop on July 2, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the gallery, where Adam will be in attendance. The show will be available to view through July 31.

Sean Christopher Gallery Ohio

Join Sean Christopher Gallery Ohio for the solo exhibition “Julia Hamilton: The Time Between” during the opening reception on July 2, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Hamilton’s exhibit continues through Aug. 27, an additional August Gallery Hop Public Reception on Aug. 6, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Studios on High Gallery

Studios on High Gallery presents Susan Rossiter’s works titled “Finding Peace” on display from July 2 through August 4. Amidst the disorder of our times and lives, Ms. Rossiter’s work provides stark contrast, showcasing a collection of paintings infused with calm. In creating this work, the artist’s goal was to achieve a dreamy, layered effect, frequently accomplished with encaustics, but instead, remarkably executed with acrylics. She created the ideal environment for herself, painting deliberately and in an unhurried, thoughtful way.

Studios on High Gallery’s July Gallery Hop hours are from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. where the artist will be in attendance from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Stop by Skully’s Music Diner during the July Gallery Hop for Happy Hour from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Enjoy half off all wells, beer cans, and select drafts up to $6 as well as 50 cents off everything else!

Skully’s will also be featuring the “CHOPOCALYPSE” tour from USAYBFLOW on July 2! Presented by Space Camp. Known for his insane riddim chops and high energy stage presence, this 24-year-old Toronto native is quickly becoming a rising star in the riddim scene. Since his Lost Lands debut last year, USAYBFLOW has amassed a sizable fan base across North America which has only grown with the CHOPOCALYPSE tour.
