City Lights exhibits at pm gallery this Gallery Hop Saturday. The exhibit features the urban landscapes of artist Deane Arnold of Columbus, Ohio. The acrylic on canvas paintings are a view of Columbus that most do not see. Textural, vivid and moody, these works show the beauty that is in the dark. Complimenting his landscapes, Deane is also displaying a series of nudes. Deane has moved from photorealistic paintings to something even truer, capturing the emotions and wonder of a city at night.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sherrie Gallerie
Sherrie Gallerie will feature the ceramic work of artist Laura Jean McLaughlin for the month of June.  McLaughlin creates a narrative of the world around her, she hand-sculpts the clay, carefully carving the surfaces and then glazing with bright colors. Sharon Weiss Gallery
David Terry exhibits Introspective at Sharon Weiss Gallery for the month of June.  Terry’s show is a collection of oil paintings. In addition to his paintings, Terry is also Columbus’ main fine art restorer.  His restoration and artwork have been a staple in Columbus for over 30 years. Opening reception is Friday May 31, 6-8PM, exhibition will run through June 30.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Marcia Evans Gallery
Take a deep journey into the unique vision of two accomplished artists at Marcia Evans Gallery this Gallery Hop Saturday.  Parallel Abstractions features the works of artists Todd Camp and John Donnelly. Opening reception is Friday, May 31 5:30-8:30PM, exhibit will run through July 29.

 

 

 

Lindsay Gallery
The Wallace Peck exhibition begins this June Gallery Hop at Lindsay Gallery.  Peck paints at the Open Door Art Studio, a supportive community of talented artists with disabilities. With the growing amount of artistic recognition Wallace has achieved over the last few years, he has shown that great art is not always the result of rigorous study but can also come from a unique perspective and sheer perseverance.  Much like words can be recombined to create unlimited meanings, Peck’s figures are structured with varied lines and evocative color combinations. Besides painting people and animals, Peck occasionally sheds new light on landscapes and architecture.

 

 

 

 

Studios on High Gallery
Studios on High Gallery will feature “Talking Art” with gallery artist Joan Zeller.  Zeller discusses glass and ceramic techniques in the creation of her garden totems.  Located in Columbus’ energetic Short North Arts District since 1985, Studios On High Gallery, is Columbus’ oldest artist-owned and operated gallery.  Selected by jury, each exhibiting artist creates art on-site. This provides a rare opportunity for art patrons to meet the artists personally and engage with their creative processes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ROY G BIV
ROY G BIV will feature three emerging artists for their June exhibition, Chinn Wang, David Leighty, and Michael Kellner. Exhibtion runs June 1-29. The opening reception is Gallery Hop Saturday from 7-10PM followed by an artists’ talk at the end of the month on June 29 2:30PM.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Terra Gallery
Terra Gallery exhibits Wall To Wall Color for the month of June.  This exhibition features a wide variety of colorful, abstract paintings as well as glass and ceramic sculptures.  The exhibition begins Gallery Hop Saturday and will run through June 28.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Oak Room
The newest gallery in the Short North, The Oak Room, is located within DeepWood Restaurant at 511 N High St.  Stop into this exhibit space this Gallery Hop for the opening reception of Interstitial, solo works by Amanda C VanDenberg.  VanDenberg incorporates stretched fabric portraits, mixed media paintings and elegant ink sketches to record passages of time.  The Gallery Hop reception is 5-8PM and will feature complimentary hors d’oeuvres from DeepWood, a cash bar, and live musical accompaniment to accent the evening.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Brandt-Roberts Galleries
Brandt-Roberts Galleries is delighted to welcome artist Bernard Palchick to the Gallery. Palchick is both a gifted water-colorist and oil painter.  He works in a variety of styles, including abstraction and magic realism. Explore his vibrant works this Gallery Hop Saturday.

 

 

 

The Pizzuti Collection, a new non-profit art space dedicated to exhibitions of world-class contemporary art from the private collection Ron and Ann Pizzuti, is hosting a member preview on June 1st from 11:00-3:00pm. Located at 632 North Park Street, the newly renovated historic building is the newest addition to Columbus’s rapidly expanding art scene. This event will offer visitors the opportunity to catch a sneak peek of Pizzuti Collection’s debut exhibitions Cuban Forever and the Inaugural Exhibition: Looking Back, Looking Forward before the organization officially opens its doors to the public in September.

A tour will be featured at 1:00pm led by Rebecca Ibel, Director and Curator of the Pizzuti Collection, who will illuminate the origins, motivations and future of the Pizzuti Collection while discussing the beautiful works of art on exhibition. Boxed lunches will be available for purchase from a “pop-up” style restaurant featuring favorites from Columbus’s own local TASI café.

Short North Stage
The Alternative Fashion Mob kicks off the first inaugural Alternative Fashion Week at the June Gallery Hop with a progressive fashion show and local designer meet and greet.  Wander High Street and see live models in boutique windows and then join a collection of designers, shop owners, and models at The Garden Theater at 9PM.  Short North Stage also presents the Seven Dance Company in a contemporary dance performance dedicated to love, Les Saisons D’Amour. FRINGE
Fringe is capturing, styling, & portraying the lives of urban dwellers during an art and apparel event this Gallery Hop Saturday.  With this “ReFresher” course, FRINGE is exposing the beauty of some of Ohio’s most abandoned yet vibrant dwellings through the work of a passionate team of photographers and artists (GoodMorningState, Christopher Mabry, Katie Herbst, and Chad Cochran) that will showcase during the evening.  Additionally, stop by for the premiere of Fringe, the private label alongside the fashion brand Publish and shoe brand Inkkas.

 

 

 

 

Dames Bond Marketplace
Stop into Dames Bond this Gallery Hop Saturday where there truly is something for everyone! Fine Artist Kimberly Erb will exhibit her paintings including the Short North streetscape pictured above. Additionally, Annie’s Garden Creations will feature the seasonally appropriate “Garden Art” exhibit to add to your growing collection. Brothers Drake Meadery
This June Gallery Hop at Brothers Drake stop in for the featured exhibits of artists Jen Wrubleski and Frank Tuttle. Wrubleski will exhibit her bright, whimsical illustrations and Tuttle will display his portraits of local drag queens as a celebratory nod to Columbus Pride month. Mead production tours will also take place in the early hours of the Hop followed by The Rust Belt Rumble Band’s evening performance beginning at 10PM. Festival season in the city of Columbus is here and What the Rock?! is celebrating! Join Royal Factory Atelier for an evening of fashion this Gallery Hop Saturday featuring local designer Shann Cortes. Cortes’ brand is based on making women feel sexy and free. Grid Furnishings exhibits “Indra’s Net,” paintings by Matthew Gallagher, Grand Award Winner of this year’s AICUO Award for Excellence.  Gallagher is a graduating senior at Oberlin College.  “My visual art deals with my desire to express images and colors I feel in reaction to auditory stimuli,” said Gallagher of his paintings. One of the newest retail spots to join the Short North Arts District will host artist Malcolm J for the month of June. Malcolm J has been exhibiting his sketches throughout the Short North and surrounding Columbus neighborhoods for many years. His works depict beloved areas of the city as well as many other pieces highlighting subject matter from rock ‘n roll entertainers to iconic historical entertainment figures. Malcolm will also showcase additional sketches during Gallery Hop Saturday outside A Gal Named Cinda Lou at the Short North “Hop Hub” Victorian Gate location, 663 N High St.

 

 

Substance, for Fashion Conscious People
During Gallery Hop, Substance will highlight three of their designers participating in Alternative Fashion week.  Madeleine Etter of Phyllis & Hazel, Katelyn McCain, and Betsy Stevenson of Elizabeth Ashleigh Designs.  Customers will get a sneak peek at the collections Maddie, Katelyn and Betsy will be presenting at the Alternative Fashion Show on June 8.
