This month, explore gallery exhibitions and public art installations throughout Columbus’ historical arts district. Below are some highlights from June’s gallery and business exhibitions; please note that holidays may impact operating hours.

The 2025 Eighth Annual Old School Invitational features recent artworks by the following 1970’s and 1980’s Columbus College of Art and Design-CCAD Alumni:

Gallerie by CFA, a unique fusion of art and retail, invites you to celebrate Gallery Hop in their new retail and exhibition space that will captivate art enthusiasts, shoppers and retail brands alike.
There will be a ribbon cutting at 3pm, plus live music, and lite refreshments. Come celebrate Gallerie’s new chapter!

MARCIA EVANS GALLERY | 8 E LINCOLN ST.

Bev Goldie & Zachary Dean Jones “Texture” appropriately titled as each artist develops a unique texture in their work… Bev with her encaustic & oils, and Zachary with his natural forms of mixed media from the earth. Both artists creating art that captures the essence of organic natural elements in their paintings. Pictured work by Bev Goldie.

SHARON WEISS GALLERY | 20 E LINCOLN ST.
hiroshi hayakawa
Hiroshi Hayakawa’s solo show at Sharon Weiss Gallery showcases a collection of his recent drawings of figures and portraits. His drawings in graphite and mixed media are meticulously crafted in a realist style by his skillful hands.
Although Hayakawa’s compositions are relatively simple, his art evokes complex narratives and emotions that are uniquely his own. There are a touch of surrealistic energy and an air of mystery that permeate his drawings and quietly entice people into his universe.

This distinctive old home is both a gallery and a creative workspace, with five working studios. In the foyer, you’ll find artwork by resident artists Amy Adams, Moon Evans, Lisa Parks Godfrey, Karen LaValley, and Tamar Rudavsky. As you explore, you can watch the artists at work and see paintings in various stages of completion-a rare chance to observe their process and individual styles up close.

ADAMAH GALLERY | 641 N HIGH ST.
jing huang
Jing Huang’s work is comprised of multiple layers of ceramic materials and possibilities, suspended and fired on stilts, flowing down and pooling naturally in response to the topography and gravity. Huang hand-builds his sculptures part by part and assemble them together to achieve an unknown structure and landscape. During this experimental and highly unpredictable process of making, firing, and installing, the position of his work has shifted and changed, becoming a new work of art.

AFTERGLOW DIGITAL PROJECTION SERIES | 937 N HIGH ST.

AfterGlow is a projection mural series displaying dynamic digital artwork in the Short North Arts District. The mural series, projected on the south-facing exterior wall at 937 N. High St., will illuminate and beautify the district for at least two evenings from sunset to midnight on the weekend of Hops on High. Now Accepting Applicants for Upcoming Gallery Hops
June Artist – Fia Soisson is a non-binary artist born and raised in Westerville, Ohio. Most of their works consist of acrylic paintings or digital art in a semi-realistic style. They typically include doodles in their art, whether it’s fine art, digital art, or graphic design. Fia has been drawing these doodles since they were a kid and adding it into their art is like bringing their childhood into each piece they create.

SHORT NORTH GOTHIC | E LINCOLN ST. + N HIGH ST.
historic mural restoration
Come watch one of the oldest murals in the Short North Arts District get a facelift during Gallery Hop! The original piece depicts a farmer and his daughter, while the District’s skillful reproduction by Steve Galgas (@gtron3000) and Mike Altman (@pixarmike) has flipped the daughter on her head and switched the subjects’ positions. The beautiful mural embodies the spirit of the District and makes a statement of its own. More details coming soon.

SUMMER SPRAY WALL | GOODALE PARK CAP
summer spray 2025
Summer Spray is a collaborative mural-making event that will showcase the live creation of a dynamic 1,300-square-foot mural wall over the span of the summer.
Starting in June, Summer Spray 2025 artists will be working to create a new masterpiece inspired by this year’s theme. More details coming soon!
