Sarah Rosalena
Artist: Sarah Rosalena

Columbus Museum of Art at the Pizzuti | 632 Park St.

The Columbus Museum of Art is proud to present “In All Directions” by Sarah Rosalena (b. 1982, Los Angeles, USA) during the November Gallery Hop.

Rosalena’s artworks fuse the materiality of traditional and indigenous craft techniques with emerging technologies to produce objects that break boundaries and borders imposed by colonialization. Her hybrid forms of ceramic, textile, and beadwork examine the geo-political effects of climate change, dispossession, and extractive economies through anti-colonial and feminist perspectives. Through her art, indigenous and craft technologies open new knowledge between the ancient and the futuristic, the human and nonhuman, handmade and autonomous.

Columbus Museum of Art at The Pizzuti’s November Gallery Hop hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Artist: Robie Benve

She will be showing 50 pieces in her collection called “The Eyes of Africa.” Her work done in colored pencil, pastels, ink and mixed media has been inspired by her visits to Africa where she chronicled much of her work through her own photography.

The Little Blue House by Sharon Weiss Gallery | 24 E Lincoln St.

Stop by The Little Blue House by Sharon Weiss Gallery during the November Gallery Hop to witness their exhibition titled “Mile Markers: Along the Olentangy Trail”. This series is part of a larger project to capture the Olentangy Trail, focusing on both temporal and spacial markers. Paintings will focus on specific spots along the trail and river, defined by actual ‘mile-markers’ on the bike-path. The temporal markers will be reflected in accompanying comments that focus on the marking of time. The river is a constant reminder that life is short, that all is in flux, and we can never step twice into the same river.

The Little Blue House’s November Gallery Hop hours are from 1 to 7 p.m.

Out of the Box

The innovative art project brings local artists’ talents to the forefront by covering everyday electrical utility cabinets with creative artworks. These often unsightly, and overlooked structures have become the canvas for talented artists to enliven public spaces. All artists participating in Out of the Box are emerging and have histories from historically marginalized communities.

This project is made possible with support from the the Short North Foundation,  the Mary Marjorie Wittwer; Edith Doud Unrestricted; and Lewis B. and Myra B. Simpson funds of The Columbus Foundation, The Ohio Arts Council,  and the Short North Alliance Art Fund.
