2024 September Gallery Hop turns Open Streets with Hops on High! September 7 from 12-8 p.m.

September Gallery Hop features all that is special about the legendary monthly tradition that is the Short North Gallery Hop and focuses in on the multidimensional experiences that make the Short North Arts District a centralized creative hub with something for everyone in Columbus.

In celebration of 40 years of Short North Gallery Hop, Gallery Hop is turning Open Streets with a new, communal seasonal series called Hops on High. Portions of High Street will be closed to traffic and made to be enjoyed as the largest pedestrian-only experience in Central Ohio. As with all Gallery Hops, the Galleries within the district will have art on display from a variety of different artists for an extended period of time. Make sure to stop into each Gallery to learn more about featured artists, open receptions and more.

Adamah Ceramics | 641 N. High St.

Adamah Ceramics is excited to feature ceramic artist Ashely Bevington. Local to Columbus, Bevington’s practice playfully explores coping mechanisms that help us in moments of humility. Her work combines beloved animals with comfort food to explore the complex ways we use coping mechanisms.

Additionally, we are featuring Denver based photographer Jack Ludlam. Ludlam focuses on large format film photography and enjoys documenting what are considered ‘under appreciated relics and heirlooms’ in a hyper detailed aesthetic. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Gallery Hop, award winning bartender Oscar Levya will be joining us with a complimentary carnival themed menu.

Adamah Ceramics’ September Gallery Hop hours are 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Brandt-Roberts Galleries | 642 N High St.

Brandt-Roberts Galleries is pleased to present “Collective Mending”, a group exhibition featuring an array of Ohio-based artists working within, or drawing upon the realm of fiber and textile art. Representing immensely rich cultural and historical significance, textile art has been referred to as a universal language. It is an artistic dimension that can be both visually striking and utilitarian, expressed in many forms, from patchwork tapestries, to woven pony beads, to tufted rugs. The participating artists build on sustainable and diverse practices, implementing the ability to up-cycle materials such as unwanted garments, lean on nature for influence, and make informed decisions on material choices.

Brandt-Roberts Galleries’ September Gallery Hop hours are 1 – 7 p.m.

Artist: Julia Hamilton

Artist Statement:
“As I travel through life, I encounter easy stretches and challenging legs. The past year has been difficult as I lost my husband, the love of my life for 28 years. We enjoyed a wonderful journey together. His journey ended and mine continues. This body of work contains pieces that have helped me process my grief. Included are new works that express something I experienced during the past year and older works that give me strength and peace”.
– Julia Hamilton

Hamilton holds an MFA from the Columbus College of Art and Design (2021) and has a 30-year career working at Highlights for Children here in Columbus.

Sean Christopher Gallery Ohio’s September Gallery Hop hours are 12-9 p.m.

Artist: Michael Guinane

Sharon Weiss Gallery | 20 E Lincoln St.

“Moments” is a collection of recent works by Columbus based artist Michael Guinane. These are paintings representing one of the artists most important themes, which is capturing moments in time usually taken from his own personal experiences. These can range from a cloudy fall day in Paris to a sunny summer day in Seattle. Maybe just walking through the streets of Columbus, the artist likes to take a moment that one might just pass by and make the viewer take a closer look.

The Little Blue House by Sharon Weiss Gallery | 24 E Lincoln St.

Artist: Marty Husted

Studios On High Gallery | 686 N. High St.

Marty Husted’s vivid paintings explore the language and power that color has in evoking emotions. Her intent is to transport the viewer into a world of hope, joy and well-being.

As a child, Ms. Husted’s favorite thing to do was to play in the woods — to draw, dream and allow her imagination to
travel to far-off places. She received her BFA in illustration from Columbus College of Art and Design and subsequently
went on to illustrate many award-winning children’s books.
Still enamored by the natural world, she continues to observe, create art and let her imagination soar. Current works
include oils, acrylics and mixed media collage, all inspired by her unique interpretation of nature’s visual symphony.

Studios on High Gallery’s September Gallery Hop hours are 12-9 p.m.
