During May Gallery Hop from 5:00pm – 9:00pm, visit Glean to meet Vanessa Jean Speckman and see her pop-up of new work.
Speckman is a nomadic textual and visual artist originally from the Bay Area, California. She has called Columbus home for the past six years and is inspired by day-to-day interactions and the vignettes of life. From the unloved and forgotten items collecting dust and waiting to live a new adventure in corners of thrift stores and flea markets, to drawers of old lace her great Nonna from San Francisco collected, to old atlases and maps colorfully depicting terrain that is no longer there but is rather now twirled in roads and highways, and to the feeling of pounding letter by letter into leather.
