freezing time: on the Olentangy and beyond

by my hands: hilos de mi ser

“As the daughter of an American father and a Mexican mother, my identity has long been shaped by the collision of two cultures. My studio practice draws from this duality—both celebrating and questioning the expectations passed down to me as a woman. Through the manipulation of traditional processes and materials associated with domesticity, I begin to bridge the misunderstandings present between the maternal generations of my lineage.”

– Artist Statement by Nicole McLaughlin

Exhibition dates September 6 – November 1
Gallery Hop hours 4 – 8pm

the gathered

The Gathered is a 625 sq ft tile mosaic by North Carolina-based artist Andrew Hendrixson. The mosaic, composed of an undulating rhythm of nearly 400,000 12 mm bespoke glass tiles, reminds viewers of the individual small pieces that comprise the whole, a metaphor for community. It is installed on the east-facing wall of the Parkside on Pearl building, facing Italian Village Park.
