Brandt-RobertsBrandt-Roberts Galleries
Brandt Roberts Galleries will present a signature group exhibition in celebration of the five-year anniversary of the gallery. New signature pieces from each of 30 represented artists and estates will be unveiled at the opening. In addition, each artist has created a special five-inch by five-inch work to commemorate the occasion. Brandt-Roberts is delighted to offer these never-before-seen works as part of an evening of music, art, and festivity. An opening for this special exhibition will be on Friday, October 2, 5:30-8:00pm.

 

lindsayLindsay Gallery
For the past year Joey Monsoon has been working on his biggest project to date. Feeling the constraints of the small panels he had been painting, Joey decided to go big, really big. For his next show at Lindsay Gallery, Monsoon will present seven large paintings done in oils, rather than his usual acrylics. He is also now using a palette knife to build up thick layers of paint which add an even greater emotional impact to his haunting, gaunt figures. An opening reception will be on Friday, October 2 from 6:00-9:00pm. The exhibit will run until November 28.

 

hammondHammond Harkins Gallery
Hammond Harkins Galleries will open in the Short North on October 2 with the opening reception for their inaugural exhibit in the new space: White Noise: New Works by Laura Alexander and Andrea Myers. This exhibit will be on display through November 8. A gallery talk with the artists is scheduled for Sunday, October 18, at 2:00pm. Little Fish Printing and Gallery will be featuring Caution: Fragile! for the October Gallery Hop, which is a diverse exhibition created by artists with disabilities. Caution: Fragile! showcases the ceramics of Little Fish Studios. Pieces ranging from unique hand-built sculptures and molds to coil pots and painted panels will draw the audience in, offering an interactive experience. The community is warmly invited to attend the opening reception during Gallery Hop on Saturday, October 3 from 6:00-9:00pm in Little Fish Printing & Gallery’s unique space located conveniently in the Short North at 1254 North High Street. The exhibit will be on display until October 24.

In October, the Pizzuti Collection’s new exhibition US IS THEM will be open. Take a guided tour at 2:00pm of the Pizzuti Collection’s newest exhibition US IS THEM, a powerful exhibition celebrating the artist as critics, whose work confronts the timely and potent issues of politics, religion, and racism.

ROY G BIV Gallery presents Leonard Suryajaya and Jessika Edgar. Suryajaya’s photos and videos explore intimacy, anxiety, and sexuality. Edgar’s ceramic sculptures allude to the human form. The work of both artists is on display October 3–31 at 997 N. High St. There will be an opening reception on Saturday, October 3 from 7:00-10:00pm with an artist talk and closing on Saturday, October 31 at 2:30pm.

Danielle Poling: Mother-Earth, paintings, sculpture and assemblage will be at Sean Christopher Gallery Ohio for the October Gallery Hop. Stop by the opening reception on October 3 from 6:00-10:00pm. Her works vary in representation, some being completely abstract, while others use metaphors or symbolism. A large outdoor reproduction of “Summer Dreams I”, a featured work in Mother-Earth, can also be seen as a part of BLANK SPACES at Sixth Avenue and High Street.

Deaf to the Heavens will be at Sharon Weiss Gallery featuring new paintings by Daniel Ferlan and curated by Wynter Whiteside. Painted delicately (with the most teeny, tiny, sable brush), these small beings & lush lands symbolically became reality for the artist, as these pre-fatherhood depictions of his future came to fruition. Visit the opening reception on Friday, October 2 from 6:00-8:00pm. The exhibition will be on display until October 31.

For the October Gallery Hop at Sherrie Gallerie, Tim Harding is featuring Layers from October 2-November 15. Respected fiber artist Tim Harding fills the gallery with breathtaking installations and vibrant compositions in dyed, layered, cut, and folded silk.

 

 

 

studionStudios on High Gallery
Columbus Convergence is a two-man show featuring new works by painters Ryan Orewiler and Tom Harbrecht at Studios on High. Both Columbus natives and Columbus College of Art and Design illustration graduates, these two artists’ portrayals of Columbus complement and contrast. While both are representational, Orewiler’s new series focuses on abstract urban cityscapes, while Harbrecht’s more familiar scenes of Columbus are a traditional, en plein air style.

For the October Gallery Hop, Denmark on High is featuring Tracee Hein. Her journey as an artist began with painting and drawing but quickly evolved into collage and mixed media sculpture. Experimenting with a variety of both traditional and nontraditional materials and exploring their unique qualities became her vehicle for expression. These objects speak of the same concerns visually and conceptually as work in other media which she has previously explored.

First Community Bank is exhibiting Eric Adkins until the end of October. Adkins, who works in ink on wood and watercolor, will be in attendance at Gallery Hop.

Visit Glean in the Short North Arts District on the October Gallery Hop to view Veronica Crawford’s new show, Lover of the Hunt, featuring her assemblage and collage pieces, made entirely from found objects.

 

 

 

moatOhio Exterminating Company
Ohio Exterminating Company features resident gallery, Moat 1347 and their latest exhibition by artist YalooPop. In an age of excess, globalization and commodification, South Korea born, Chicago-based artist YalooPop is fascinated by how everyday symbols are marketed, advertised, and sold. YalooPop compulsively takes iPhone pictures, screenshots her laptop, and downloads videos of mainstream media spectacles. For October Gallery Hop, Moat’s materials can be seen at the Ohio Exterminating Co. and the Garden Theater. YalooPop’s reception will be a North High Brewing Co. on September 26, from 6:30-8:30pm.

On Saturday, October 3, from 5-7 pm, Stone Village Church and Art Gallery welcomes local artist, Mitch Geiser, and his new photography exhibit, A Story To Tell. In addition to Mitch’s new exhibit, a delicious array of foods, desserts and wines will be on hand for the opening reception. The exhibit will be on display through Sunday, October 25. Every photo is framed with wood collected from an Amish community in Ohio.

Stonewall Columbus is hosting a reception and art exhibit opening to launch their new program, InsideOUT, for LGBTQ inmates and formerly incarcerated individuals. This exhibit will feature art created by inmates at Marion Correctional Institution (MCI). At the October Gallery Hop from 6:00-8:00pm, an MCI representative and Stonewall Columbus’ Program Coordinator will share information about InsideOUT and talk about the importance of building community between inmates and their allies on the outside.

Wexner Center for the Arts is featuring a Jazz Series kick-off with Linda Oh Sun Pictures at 8:00pm on October 3. See After Picasso: 80 Contemporary Artists on view until December 27. Picture Lock: 25 Years of Film/Video Residencies at the Wexner Center for the Arts begins at the end of October.

Global Gifts is getting ready for fall with Fair Trade hot cocoa and coffee samples in the store, and new woolens.
