ART EXHIBITIONS

Brandt-Roberts Galleries

Brandt-Roberts Galleries presents BRG Summer Series II: Richard Lillash & Erika Stearly. The second exhibition in the series couples Columbus-based painter Richard Lillash with Kutztown, Pittsburgh-based painter Erika Stearly. Lillash creates vivid paintings employing active, distinct brushwork and saturated color, pulling imagery from his everyday surroundings, such as scenic landscapes, studio interiors, and floral still lifes.

Stearly creates loosely-rendered, exaggerated, and often brightly colored paintings of domestic spaces that evoke a sense of a particular place using a combination of watercolor and acrylic paint. The exhibition is on view July 3 through August 1. A virtual exhibition will be available at brandtrobertsgalleries.com/exhibitions.

July Gallery Hop hours will be from 1:00pm to 7:00pm.

Emergent Art & Craft

Shaped Life by Megan Evans runs the month of July at Emergent Art & Craft. Evans’ mixed media work includes geometric shapes contrasted with nature. “I have always been really interested in the intersection of math and nature and the images for Shaped Life investigate the relationship between the two,” Evans said of her work.

The artist will be present in the gallery on July 3 to discuss their work and process.

July Gallery Hop hours will be from 11:00am to 9:00pm.

Hammond Harkins Galleries

Join Hammond Harkins Galleries for its most recent edition of 6 plus 1. This recurring group exhibition includes six gallery artists and a “plus one,” who this year is Amanda Love from Granville. Love is an interdisciplinary artist with a background in bookbinding, design, and conservation. Her work is informed by the environment and ranges from small intimate works to room-size installations. In addition to a selection of Love’s paintings, also on display will be the artist’s Word Matter, a floor-to-ceiling installation comprised of reconfigured dismantled books. Participating Artists: Laura Alexander, Linda Gall, Paul Hamilton, Andrew Hendrixson, Andrea Myers, Tariku Shiferaw, and Amanda Love.

July Gallery Hop hours will be from 11:00am to 8:00pm.

Lindsay Gallery

Lindsay Gallery will feature a group show by gallery artists.

July Gallery Hop hours will be from 1:00pm to 7:00pm.

Marcia Evans Gallery

Marcia Evans Gallery presents an exhibition of works by French-born American artist Annette Poitau. Poitau received her MFA in Paris, and her paintings are shown in private and public collections in the United States, Europe, and Japan. Her oil paintings often call to mind the rich colors of the earth, exploring a technique that is analogous to the geological processes of sedimentation and erosion that shape our planet, creating imaginary landscapes.

July Gallery Hop hours will be from 12:00pm to 9:00pm.

(Not) Sheep Gallery

(Not) Sheep Gallery presents The Problem We All Live With, an exhibition based on a Norman Rockwell painting about school desegregation. The show will primarily focus on racism, but will also present work about environmental issues and politics. The Problem We All Live With will remain on view until August 1.

July Gallery Hop hours will be from 11:00am to 8:00pm.

Sarah Gormley Gallery

Sarah Gormley Gallery presents Rise of Entropy, Columbus-based artist Daniel Rona’s second solo show at SGG and will include the red and white striped, x-eyed subject that follows the artist throughout his creative adventures. This new series focuses on what is destroyed, then rebuilt, and pushed, pulled, and entangled all in the process of creating art. The layers, shapes and colors challenge you to understand – and ultimately, accept – what often appears to be a puzzle.

July Gallery Hop hours will be from 1:00pm to 8:00pm.

Sean Christopher Gallery Ohio

The public is invited to an Opening Reception on July 3, from 2:00pm to 8:00pm, featuring the artwork of Cleveland area-based artist Craig Matis. This exhibit will feature three significant series of collaged artworks – Tightrope: Walk the Line, Songbooks, and X-Ray Collages. His work addresses political, racial and gender identity issues. Fringe cultures and outsiders like individuals immersed in the lifestyle of the traveling circus are also explored.

This exhibit was first conceived to be shown at their Columbus location to coincide with the annual Ohio State Fair, just a few miles east. With the State Fair being cancelled this summer due to COVID-19, the visual art and sound installation at Sean Christopher Gallery Ohio may be the closest people living in or visiting Central Ohio will come to experiencing the fair and circus-like atmosphere.

July Gallery Hop hours will be from 2:00pm to 8:00 pm.

Sharon Weiss Galleries

Sharon Weiss Galleries presents a Salon Show of works by artists represented by Sharon Weiss and adjacent galleries: 12 Lincoln, Sharon Weiss Gallery, Found at Sharon Weiss Gallery, and 24 Lincoln Street Art Studios.

July Gallery Hop hours will be from 1:00pm to 8:00 pm.

Studios on High Gallery

Studios on High Gallery presents mixed-media artist Tracy Greenwalt’s latest show, Stone City. The artist’s stunning portraits depict inhabitants of this imagined world. Designed to be a visual tour of the intricacies of the human experience, this exhibition uses early 20th century photographic portraits as inspiration. Greenwalt lets their countenance and carriage tell a story both specific and universal.

July Gallery Hop hours will be from 1:00pm to 8:00pm.
