EXHIBITIONS
Brandt-Roberts Galleries
For September Gallery Hop, Brandt-Roberts Galleries will present a solo exhibition of new works by Columbus artist Christopher Burk, titled Urban Threads.
Burk’s recent body of work continues his exploration of the overlooked corners of our city. Telephone lines, abandoned houses, and dimly-lit windows take center stage over meticulously painted skies. Though antiquated, these jumbled wires and cables continue to serve as a means to connect us to one another. Urban Threads will have an opening reception on September 2 from 5:30-8:00pm and will be on view through October 2. The event is free and open to the public.

Derrick Adams is a Brooklyn-based artist whose strong design sense makes for complex structured assemblages that draw on urban plans and architecture frameworks, fashion, and pop culture, deeply rooted in the African American experience. Mike Nemire received his MFA at Pratt and has recently moved back to Columbus after a decade in New York City. His meticulous paintings are grounded in 20th-century color theory and contextualized within the 32-bit color palette of contemporary digital technology.

Wexner Center for the Arts
Come see The Box on Gallery Hop Saturday at the Wexner Center for the Arts. Bawdy and bizarre, Brazilian artist Cristiano Lenhardt’s newest video draws both from his country’s indigenous history and modernist tradition. The fantastic collision between reality and myth belies a deeper consideration of origin, identity, and memory. Recommended for mature audiences.
